This is an exciting time for the communication of author to audience. Until recently, an author needed the approval and support of a publisher, studio, or network to get exposure for his or her work. Now, anyone with a computer and a modem can express their thoughts, ideas, and creations to the whole world for no more expense than a monthly phone bill.
The whole nature of communication is changing, and the line between mass communication and personal expression is blurring. Andy Warhal once said that there would come a time when everyone would receive fifteen minutes of fame. He was wrong. Today anyone can receive fifteen meg of fame.
From the right to self-expression follows the right to self-determination - an underlying principal that is the foundation upon which The Subversive has been built. So, it is with a great excitement and enthusiastic hope for the future of the individual that we at The Subversive forge headlong into new forms of communication and new means of expression.
As a final thought, let me extend an invitation to all of you who have something to say to send it our way. Be it a story, photograph, audio track, musical performance, cartoon, movie, or commentary, we'd love to have the opportunity to consider it for publication.
We hope you enjoy this issue and look forward to having you join us again next issue for a continued exploration into the heart and mind of being human.
